NC Songwriters Showcase Stages
Friday July 3: 11:00 – 12:30 (Host: Jamie Purnell) 11:00 – 11:30 – Wes Collins Chapel Hill songwriter Wes Collins opens the NC Songwriters Stage for this year’s Festival for the Eno. Known for his intricately woven lyrics and haunting melodies, Wes will charm you into your seat for the show. You’ll want to stay for all of the original North Carolina music and skilled performances from today’s three acts. 11:30 – 12:00 – Louise Bendall With a voice that is "joyful yet aching," Louise Bendall delivers acoustic folk music with a bluesy-jazzy twist. She draws from a variety of musical flavors to create original music rooted in soulful vocals, complimented by instrumental musings. Her music has been described as “haunting yet uplifting,” and “pretty and poetic in its straightforwardness,” and going from "soulful to raucous." 12:00 – 12:30 – The Anecdotes A relatively new trio on the local scene with Jamie Purnell on vocals and guitar, Andy Smith on vocals and guitar and Patrick McDonough on vocals and keyboard, the Anecdotes serve up a lush, warm yet lively folk pop sound with complex three-part vocal harmonies. Make sure to catch this new sound in the area. Saturday July 4: 11:00 – 12:30 (Artists will introduce Co-op & self) 11:00 – 11:45 – Jamie Anderson Touring since the eighties, Durham singer-songwriter Jamie Anderson has played her warm and witty songs in hundreds of coffeehouses, concert halls, colleges and festivals in four countries and forty seven states.
